A Guest Post: A Wrinkle In Time

By Cindy Hames

It honestly feels like there has been a wrinkle in time - we blinked and 30 years have passed. This month - 30 years ago - my boss at the time, Bernice, took me out for lunch to introduce me to the ladies that ran Personnel in Nisku. That’s the day I met Faye.

Many of you may not have known this but the Personnel Managers of the drilling companies were tight knit - and every month - they met for lunch & a glass of wine (wine was a staple)

I was so nervous - these were the icons of the industry - Bernice, Darlene, Anne, Rita, Pat, Joanne & Faye. These ladies were the lifeblood of their companies - they knew everyone. I was the was the new kid. Strangely I remained the new kid for the next 10 years.

Each one of these ladies impacted my early years, but Faye remains a part of my life and I am so grateful for her mentorship and above all her friendship throughout the years.

Faye was famous even then - she was known for her quick wit, voracious laugh, fierce loyalty and above all how well she managed her crews.

There were many times I borrowed a hand from her to get through a shortage, and vice versa. Once she started recruiting for Noble internationally the “sharing” stopped lol. When Faye called about one of our guys - I knew I would never get them back - but at least I knew that Faye always took care of her people and Noble was a great company. It has been my honor and privilege to have been a part of Faye’s story and there is no one that is more deserving of being an honorary. Congratulations Faye - you deserve it!
